OREANDA-NEWS  The Amur Bay off the coast of Vladivostok turned an unusual color — the water turned yellow in places. This is reported by MIR24.TV with reference to the specialists of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Yellow streaks in the waters of the Amur Bay were noticed by residents of the city. According to scientists, they are caused by pollen from coniferous trees. "Carried by the wind, it settles on the surface of the water and is concentrated by the wind into spots and stripes, forming "yellow tides"," the experts explained.

Scientists stressed that pollen is not poisonous, but in large quantities it can harm the reservoir — disrupt the ecological balance of the bay.

In December 2023, the Setun River in Moscow, one of the largest tributaries of the Moskva River, turned an unusual color. Its waters have acquired a dirty brown hue. The reason for the change in the color of the reservoir was not specified at that time.
